We started Tier5Shop in early 2026 because the affiliate review landscape had become deeply broken.
Search “best [anything]” and you’ll land on the same recycled article — twelve products listed in the order of their affiliate commission, each described in vaguely positive terms, none actually tested. Every site, the same conclusion. Every site, the same Amazon link. None of it useful.
Tier5Shop is our attempt at the opposite. A small team of writers and testers who genuinely use the stuff we recommend, score it on a consistent five-tier scale, and publish the result regardless of whether it pays well.
What “Tier 5” means
We score every product on a 5-tier scale. The number isn’t decorative — it’s the entire point of the site.
- Tier 1 — Avoid. Products that fail at the basics. We buy them so you don’t have to.
- Tier 2 — Skip unless. Functional but compromised. Buy only if one specific feature outweighs the trade-offs.
- Tier 3 — Solid choice. Does the job well without standing out. Most products in any category land here.
- Tier 4 — Top pick. Best-in-class for most buyers. The recommendation we’d give a friend.
- Tier 5 — Best in class. Rare. Reserved for products that genuinely redefine their category.
Most reviews land Tier 3 or 4. A confident Tier 5 appears roughly once in every fifteen reviews. We don’t grade-inflate so the affiliate clicks feel earned.
Who’s behind this
A small editorial team based across the UK, Vietnam, and the Netherlands. Two full-time reviewers, three category specialists who freelance for us, and an editor who fact-checks everything before it goes live.
We are not a content farm. We do not use AI to write reviews. Every review on this site comes from someone who used the product for at least two weeks.
What we don’t do
- We don’t accept free samples.
- We don’t take money for positive coverage.
- We don’t restructure rankings when an affiliate program raises its rate.
- We don’t write reviews of products we haven’t bought ourselves.
That’s the bar. We hold it.
