Tier5Shop is reader-supported. When you click a link to a product we’ve reviewed and make a purchase, we may receive a small commission from the retailer. This costs you nothing β the price you pay is the same as if you’d visited the retailer directly.
These commissions fund our work: the products we buy at retail, the reviewers who test them, the editors who fact-check the writing, and the hosting that keeps the site online.
How this works on the site
Every product we recommend includes a “Check Price” or similar button that takes you to the retailer through an affiliate link. These links are marked with the rel="sponsored" attribute in their HTML, which is the technical standard for declaring an affiliate relationship.
We work with a small number of affiliate programs, including Amazon Associates and direct programs run by individual brands. We do not work with networks that require minimum positive-coverage commitments.
Our promise
Affiliate commissions never determine product ranking. They have never resulted in a higher score. They have never resulted in inclusion in a “best of” list when the product didn’t deserve it.
We have publicly given low scores to products that pay us well. We have written critical reviews of products from brands we have affiliate deals with. The work doesn’t change based on the commission rate.
Why this matters
The affiliate review space is full of sites where the rankings line up suspiciously well with affiliate revenue. We are not that. Our editorial workflow is structured so that the writer scoring a product does not know the commission rate; the commerce team handles that separately, after the score is locked.
If you ever find evidence we’ve broken this rule, send it to [email protected] and we will look into it publicly.
